Our Vision
RipeNome empowers farmers of every scale to adapt, innovate, and thrive in an ever changing environment. Our platform drives higher yields, informed breeding decisions, and more resilient plants.
Redefining Crop Resilience
Harnessing RNA modification analytics to enhance plant resilience and adaptability, in a challenging and changing environment.
We analyze RNA modifications — subtle biochemical changes within RNA that arise as a direct response to environmental factors. What we observe is that different plants can develop remarkably different modification patterns under the very same conditions. These differences reveal that some plants react more robustly, adaptively, or stress-resistantly than others.
By systematically capturing these patterns and relating them to a wide range of relevant influencing factors, we can identify which plants naturally possess higher resilience. This knowledge enables breeders to selectively propagate those candidates that show the strongest and most sustainable responses — ultimately supporting the development of stable and future-ready crops.
Accelerating Breeding Cycles
Implementing advanced analytics to shorten breeding cycles, bringing superior crops to market faster.
Do you have a promising old variety with great characteristics, but not every plant delivers the desired yield? With RipeNome, the best plants for breeding can be selected with confidence.
Where Data Beats Dirt
We develop high-impact tech for next-gen agriculture: indoor farms, controlled environment farming and urban food hubs.
Our Molecular Insights Platform
Culminating years of experience in RNA and it‘s Modifications, RipeNome is our platform from which products are developed and analytics are provided. The absence of certain methyl groups is a natural phenomenon that can be achieved by breeding or through artificial demethylation of RNA.
You breed your plants naturally and we help you selecting the strongest candidates earlier than ever before.
Applications
Stonefruits
From plums and cherries to apricots and even peaches, our local farmers cultivate a rich diversity of fruit. Through ongoing breeding and careful monitoring of new varieties, the industry is continuously striving to keep pace with a changing environment. We’re proud to contribute to that effort.
Citrus
Citrus fruits present a uniquely engaging field of research for us. They differ from prunes in many ways, providing a different context — the most obvious being that they retain their leaves throughout the seasons. You can imagine, this is a great advantage when collecting leaves for analysis. At the same time, growers are increasingly challenged by climate change, making the resilience of these crops an ever more important factor.
Grapes
As an homage to our hometown Mainz in Rhineland-Palatinate we naturally included grapes in our research. Imagine producing smaller berries — intensifying flavor and creating more space between them. That extra room means healthier vines and a reduced need for pesticides.
Partnering
We are looking for partners who want to explore new frontiers with us. Which plant or crop would you be interested in?
